Local Color was founded in 2005 by shopping expert, Mary Kovar. After years of hunting for the perfect birthday and holiday presents, Mary was inspired to start a store of her own in downtown Stillwater, Minnesota. Originally an antiquing town, Mary wanted to bring a fun and contemporary shopping option to the tourists and the people of Stillwater. She has filled Local Color with all of her favorite merchandise, focusing on products that are colorful and extra-ordinary. 

Recently, Mary's daughter Bethany decided it was time to join the family business. With Bethany's love of fashion and her Masters in Marketing from Northwestern University, it was an easy choice. She currently is in charge of marketing and the buyer for the Local Color online store.

Together, Mary and Bethany, have a unique eye for chic products which has made Local Color a destination for the shopper who loves to make a statement with clothing, jewelry and special gifts.

Mary and Bethany enjoy spending their free time with their family, friends and Bethany's English Bulldog Gemma. Gemma has a special place in her heart for bath & body products and ALL Local Color goods are Gemma-approved!
